Every time I photograph a Kent Island Resort wedding, I remember why this property is one of my favorites on the Eastern Shore. Taylor and Chris got married here on September 25th, under a warm early autumn sky. The day moved through five distinct spaces on the same historic campus. That kind of variety is rare, and it gave us a wedding day that felt intimate and expansive at once. I want to walk you through how it unfolded, space by space. Getting Ready in the Suites at Kent Island Resort
Taylor got ready in the bridal suite. Chris got ready in the groom’s suite. Both rooms are tucked into the historic manor house on the Kent Island Resort campus. They sit close enough that I could shoot both sides of the morning without losing time on the schedule.
The bridal suite had soft natural light through tall windows. That is exactly what I look for when photographing details like the dress, the shoes, and Taylor’s grandmother’s earrings. Down the hall, Chris was getting ready with his groomsmen. That room felt looser, louder, more laughing than nerves. I love that both spaces exist on the same property. Less driving. Less rushed timeline. More time for the two of you to actually be present before the ceremony starts.

The venue has since been renovated and rebranded. But the water views, the tree lined drive, and the ceremony lawns are the same ones that made it a Baltimore area favorite for years.
If you have seen photos labeled Kent Manor Inn online, you are looking at the same venue. I still hear both names from couples during consultations, so I am using them together here on purpose. Whichever name you search, you will land on one beautiful property in Stevensville. It sits about an hour from Washington DC and well within reach of Baltimore and Annapolis.
A Gazebo Ceremony Overlooking the Water
Taylor and Chris said their vows at the gazebo, one of the venue’s most requested ceremony spots for a Kent Island Resort wedding. Water sits in the background. The light in late afternoon does something I cannot recreate anywhere else on this property.
I positioned myself slightly off to the side to catch Chris’s face the moment Taylor came around the corner. That is always my priority during a ceremony, not the posed shot everyone expects, but the real one. Guests seated on the lawn had a clear view of the water past the gazebo. It gave every photo from the ceremony a sense of place you just do not get indoors.
Cocktail Hour in the Garden House
Cocktail hour moved into the Garden House, a bright, window filled space with a feel of its own. Guests could step outside onto the surrounding grounds or stay in. That flexibility kept the hour relaxed instead of rushed.
Nobody usually plans photography around cocktail hour, but I always try to. Taylor and Chris used it to actually enjoy their drinks and talk to family. That meant candid moments everywhere I looked. The Garden House’s natural light made those in between photos, a laugh over a drink, a hand on a shoulder, some of my favorites from their entire gallery.
What Makes Kent Island Resort a Timeless Wedding Venue?
Kent Island Resort works so well for timeless photography because it does not lean on trend driven decor to look good. The water, the manor house architecture, and the mature trees on the grounds will photograph the same way in twenty years. That is exactly what I want for every couple I work with.
I also love that the campus gives us so many photo locations without ever leaving the property. Between the manor house, the water’s edge, and the open lawns, Taylor, Chris, and I found a dozen different backdrops during their portrait session alone. For a couple who wants variety in their gallery without a complicated shot list, a Kent Island Resort wedding delivers that easily.
A Pavilion Reception Under String Lights
The reception took place in the Pavilion, an open air space with room for a proper dance floor and a spot for toasts. It let the evening breeze move through the whole night. As the sun went down, string lights took over. The whole space shifted from garden party to golden hour reception in under an hour.
By this point in the day, Taylor and Chris were fully in it. No more nerves, just dancing and hugging every person who came up to congratulate them. That is always the moment I am chasing as a photographer, not a staged first dance photo, but the real one. Slightly blurred from movement. Exactly how it felt to be there.
Kent Island Resort has also added a new barn venue since Taylor and Chris’s wedding, called the Farmstead. I have not photographed there yet, but from what I have seen, it is stunning. I would love the chance to shoot a Kent Island Resort wedding there next season.
